그루지야 당국은 그루지야로부터 분리 독립을 시도하고 있는 남오세티야 인근에서 러시아 소형 정찰기 한 대를 격추시켰다고 23일 밝혔습니다.

그루지야 내무부의 쇼타 우치아쉬빌 대변인은 남오세티아 국경 인근 지역을 비행하던 러시아 무인 정찰기가 그루지야 경찰에 의해 격추됐다고 밝혔습니다.

러시아 당국은 그루지야의 이같은 주장이 사실이 아니라고 부인했습니다. 러시아 국방부의 알렉산더 드로비세브스키 대변인은 "이는 지역 상황을 불안정하게 만들려는 그루지야의 모략일뿐"이라고 일축했습니다.

Georgia says its military has shot down a Russian drone near the breakaway region of South Ossetia.

A spokesman for the interior minister(Shota Utiashvili) says the unmanned reconnaissance aircraft was downed by policemen Monday near the village of Tsitelubani, located close to South Ossetia's border.

A spokesman for Russia's Defense Ministry in Moscow(Alexander Drobyshevsky) denies the report from the former Soviet republic that the drone was shot down. He says Tbilisi issued the claim "with the aim of destabilizing the situation in the region."

Last month, Russian forces routed Georgian forces who had attempted to retake South Ossetia from pro- Russian separatists. Russian forces have taken up positions inside undisputed Georgian territory.
