Laos and Vietnam have agreed to cooperate on a project to build a railway route linking Quang Binh province to Laos' province of Khammouane. The study will take one year to complete and will be funded by a grant from Vietnam.

The agreement was reached between the two communist neighbors' Transport ministers in a recent visit by the Vietnamese official to Laos. The two also discussed cooperation plans in the near future, including road projects to promote trade, investment, and tourism ties between the two countries.
