Laos Today: 175 Candidates to Compete for 115 Seats in Laos National Assembly

Laos’ election committee has announced a list of 175 eligible candidates it has selected to compete for 115 seats in the National Assembly. The next general election is scheduled to take place on April 30.

Noticeably absent from the list is Samanh Vignaket, the current National Assembly president. And there was no explanation as to why the number of seats were to increase from 109 to 115. Lawmakers will be elected from 17 constituencies.
