Lao PDR Artist Wants to Establish Cultural Connection Between Inside and Outside Laotians

Noi Sengsourigna
Talented Lao singer, songwriter, and musician Noi Sengsourigna, who is also an architect and English news announcer of the Lao National Television, is visiting Washington D.C. this week. She talks to VOA about her education, her love for music, and her singing career.

Noi, born Sengsourigna Phonkaseumsouk,  has been involved in music since she was five years old in 1981, when she became the youngest traditional musician in the band"Red Flower" performing in the International Children's Day in Russia.

Noi received an Bachelor's degree in architecture from the Royal
Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia, after six years of studying there where she also kept up her study of music, both Lao and international.

She has released many CDs and VCDs, held many concerts, and was invited to perform in Japan once.
