Lao authorities say they will review land concessions that have been granted to foreigners, because it appears that many concessionary projects have affected lands owned by Lao citizens and even encroaching on public land or national parks.

Officials say citizens whose lands have been affected will be compensated fairly, while concessions that encroach on national parks or conservation areas will be revoked.

They also say they will try to solve future problems by promoting concessions that will promise to use the lands for agricultural purposes only.
