Laos Targets a GDP Growth of 8% for 2007-2008

Laos National Assembly
The Lao government has targeted a gross domestic product growth of 8% for the next fiscal year, eyeing a per capita income of around 728 US dollars to reduce the poverty ratio to 3% of the general population.

Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh 
Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh
reported on the new fiscal plan to the ongoing third session of the Sixth National Assembly, adding that to achieve the targeted GDP goal, the government will invest in some 3,897 development projects. Laos' new fiscal year begins October 2008.
