Max:         Yes, we do.  Actually, we have two pets.

We have a dog… and we have a cat.

Kathy:       A dog and a cat.  Do they fight?

Max:         No, not really.

But the dog, Buster, likes to chase the cat.

                  They’re just playing.

And the cat, Felix, is a pretty tough cat.

Do you have a pet, Kathy?

Kathy:       Well, yes.  I have two pets, too.

                  But they’re not very exciting.

Max:         Do you have a dog?

Kathy:       No, I have two fish.  I have some goldfish.

They’re nice to look at, but they don’t do much.

                  They just swim around.

I was thinking about getting a dog.

Max:         But dogs need a lot of attention.

                  Cats are easier.

                  They’re more independent.

Kathy:       Hmm.  I like cats, too.
