                  You should make sure that your agreement is fair to both sides.

                  To do this, you really need to know what the other side wants and needs.

                  You need to understand what they are asking for and why.

                  And, it's very important to understand a proposal before reacting to it.

                  You should always paraphrase ideas to check your understanding.

                  Finally, always ask where the numbers come from and check them.
