Go to the sign up page and enter your mobile device number in the form provided, including the country code. Click on the checkboxes (if available) for the SMS services you want to receive. Then click on "Agree and Continue." Within minutes, you will get a text message with a code in it. Enter this code on the confirmation page to confirm your subscription.

Q: How do I unsubscribe and stop getting VOA text messages?

Q: Does VOA charge money for its text message services?
VOA does not charge money for SMS subscriptions; however, your normal international text message rates apply for receiving and sending SMS. Please check with your mobile service provider. VOA text messages may have an advertisement attached to them. This does not indicate an endorsement on behalf of the Voice of America.
Q: Is VOA SMS available on my carrier?
See if your carrier is on the list of mobile service providers that support our SMS service. A star (*) by your service provider indicates that you can receive text messages to VOA, but that you cannot send SMS to VOA. If you cannot send text messages and would like to unsubscribe from VOA SMS, you must come back to voanews.com to unsubscribe.

Did you sign up by phone?
Check to see if your mobile provider supports VOA SMS here:the list of mobile service providers that support our SMS service.If there is a star by your service provider, you cannot sign up by phone. Try the sign up form.
Did you sign up online?
If you did not get a confirmation text message after signing up, check the list here to see if your service provider supports VOA SMS. If it does, try entering your phone number again on the sign up page.
If you DID get a confirmation text, you should be signed up for the list. A message may not have been sent since you signed up. Text messages are sent once a day on weekdays, 5 times a week.
