Cambodian Miners Risk Lives to Dig for Gold (VOA On Assignment)

Published January 04, 2013

Millions of people around the world dig for gold to escape poverty, but many of the mines are unsafe and pollute the environment with dangerous chemicals. Last year, Mony Say of VOA's Khmer Service traveled to a remote province in Cambodia to meet some of the nation's small-scale gold miners, many of whom endure great risks to do their work. He shared the experience with On Assignment's Doug Bernard.
