Khydup Gyatso, a former monk from Amdo Ngawa who is currently a youth counselor for the city of Toronto, Canada, is the founder of Wild Yaks, a collaborative project and website that produces a wide variety of educational materials for Tibetan children. Dedicated to children both inside Tibet and around the world, www.wildyaks.com provides stories and tales, cartoons and videos, and a host of tools designed to encourage and promote Tibetan language and culture. Gyatso says that he started the project because there is a lack of good educational and cultural materials for Tibetan children.
