Tenzin Deki Chokteng works as a Metallurgical Engineer at the prestigious Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. Chokteng was born in Rajpur Dehra Dun, India and immigrated to the United States with her family after completing seventh grade at Woodstock, an American boarding school in Mussoorie. After attending high school in Colorado and pursuing a Metallurgical and Material Science Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines, Chokteng participated in the first ever Miss Tibet beauty pageant held in Dharamsala, India in 2002. Chokteng tells VOA her experiences being part of the beauty pageant and working as an engineer in a male dominated field at Bridge and Iron Company.
