China says President Bush's visit to Beijing later this month will not be marred by a host of differences between the two countries.

China is warning other governments to avoid meeting the Dalai Lama, one day after President Bush met Tibet's exiled spiritual leader at the White House.

China's Foreign Ministry said Thursday it opposes any meetings with the Dalai Lama, adding that leaders should not provide a platform for him to discuss what Beijing calls separatist activities.

No details have been released from Wednesday's meeting between President Bush and the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama was expected to ask Mr. Bush to press China to give more autonomy to Tibet.

The 70-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader is on a 10-day visit to the U.S.

Mr. Bush is to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao on a visit to Beijing later this month.
