Since the March 10 protests in Tibet and their suppression by Chinese security apparatus, there has been widescale reaction from the international community, foreign governments and even the IOC Chairman, calling for a measured response to the protests from Beijing and for the opening of ‘results based’ dialogue between Beijing and the Dalai Lama. In return, the Chinese authorities have responded with a range of denials and accusations, and have attempted to cast the blame for the unrest in Tibet on the Dalai Lama.
This week’s Kunleng examines the reactions from Beijing, the international community and the Dalai Lama to the on going crises. Mr. Tenzin Tethong, former Tibetan Cabinet Head will join us from California for the discussion. The program will also air the Dalai Lama’s Press conference from Narita, Japan and footage of the journalist’s encounter with protesting monks in Labrang two days ago.
