The Executive Director of the International Campaign for Tibet, Mary Beth Markey, says the Dalai Lama met with members of Congress in Washington Wednesday.

She said lawmakers asked the Dalai Lama to provide specific ways they could help his efforts to find a peaceful solution for Tibet. She added that Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) pledged the support of the U.S. Congress.

Ms. Markey also said senators inquired about the status of discussions with Chinese leadership.

The 70 year old leader is in the midst of a 10 day visit to the U.S. capital.
