Over the last decade, there’s been a growing interest and appreciation for the Tibetan struggle amongst Chinese democracy activists and intellectuals, both inside China and abroad. For example last month, a Chinese law professor and human rights activist, Teng Biao, has said German Chancellor Merkel was right in meeting the Dalai Lama. In an interview to the German newspaper,  Teng said the Dalai Lama works peacefully for the Tibetans and their autonomy and the "meeting with him is not only good for the Tibetans, but also for the Chinese." 

This week’s Kunleng looks into this relatively new phenomenon and discuss the extent to which Chinese understanding and support exists for the Tibetan cause, and the critical role it may play in bringing about a resolution to the Tibetan problem. Host Dorje Tseten invites Mr. Kunga Tashi, former assistant secretary at the Office of Tibet in Taipai, and Mr. Rinchen Tashi, China political analyst at International Campaign for Tibet in Washington DC for the program.
