State of Emergency in Blue Nile State


In Khartoum there are no signs of willingness to find a peaceful end to the ongoing conflicts in the border regions of Sudan. Today the Sudanese National Assembly voted to back President Omar Al Bashir’s decision to impose an indefinite state of emergency in Blue Nile State, where SPLA Northern sector forces continue to fight with Sudan Armed Forces, part of a broader military campaign joining rebellions in Southern Kordofan and Darfur in an effort to remove the ruling National Congress Party from power.
