Brazilian police say the mother of one of the country's most famous football (soccer) players has been kidnapped.
Police say gunmen seized Marina Lima de Souza, the mother of Santos striker Robinho, from the home of friends late Saturday.
Brazilian authorities say two men snatched Ms. Souza and fled in her car, which was later found abandoned.
There has been no word on her fate or the kidnappers' motive.
Robinho, a star athlete in Brazil, is reportedly being courted by European football clubs, including Spain's Real Madrid.
