A Bangladeshi journalist who was critically wounded in a bomb attack last week has died from his injuries.
Sheikh Belaluddin Ahmed of the Bengali daily Sangram was wounded last Saturday when a remote-controlled device exploded near a press club in the southwestern city of Khulna.
Mr. Ahmed died Friday at a military hospital in Dhaka where he had been on a ventilator.
Three other journalists suffered non-life threatening injuries in the explosion.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
Reporters Without Borders has called on the country's interior minister to protect journalists. In 2003, the media rights group described Bangladesh as "by far the world's most violent country for journalists".
