Mr. and Mrs. Tutu renewed their vows Saturday during a ceremony at a Soweto church witnessed by their four children along with hundreds of friends and dignitaries.
Mr. Tutu thanked his wife for her devotion, saying he would never have been anything near what he is without her.
The couple was joined at the service by Mr. Tutu's fellow antiapartheid icon and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, former South African President Nelson Mandela.
