U.S. First Lady Laura Bush focused on children's issues on her first full day in India, Thursday.
She visited the television studio where the Indian version of the children's show "Sesame Street" is taped to record a guest appearance. After chatting with several characters on the program Mrs. Bush helped one learn to count to five in English.
She also met with boys and girls at a center providing shelter and education to neglected children.
One stop the first lady's schedule will not include is the famous Taj Mahal. In a luncheon speech, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said he was sorry President Bush was not taking her to the romantic landmark, and hoped he would be more chivalrous on a future visit.Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
