Australian Adam Scott has capped his best year on the golf course by winning the U.S. PGA season finale. Scott carded a three-shot victory Sunday over American Jim Furyk in the Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.
Scott finished at 11-under-par, 269. His mistake-free golf at East Lake club was so dominant that hundreds of fans left the golf course halfway through Scott's final round.
Scott had said his goal was to be in contention more often. This season he accomplished that with nine top 10s, six of those finishes no worse than third. With tournaments coming up in Asia, he will have a chance to surpass American Phil Mickelson at number three in the world ranking by the end of the year.
