French police have arrested five suspected Islamic militants said to have been training for what they called a holy war.
Authorities identified the five as French citizens of Bosnian origin. They say the suspects belonged to a mosque in the eastern city of Besancon and conducted weapons training in woods in the area. Authorities say those arrested had not yet finalized their plans.
Police say they confiscated a number of weapons, including handguns and rifles, during raids on the suspects' homes.
They say the five face charges of criminal association with a terrorist group.
