Dateline: Euthanasia - 2001-08-02


Last November, while most Americans were concerned with the presidential election, voters in the northeastern state of Maine narrowly defeated an initiative to legalize physician-assisted suicide.

Physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia have joined stem cell research as an area of public policy that crosses both moral and political boundaries.

In today’s edition of Dateline, VOA's Neal Lavon and Lisa Bryant in Brussels look at these two issues both in America and Europe.
