New Zealand's cricket team has defeated host country Australia by 77 runs in the eighth match of a triangular one-day international series in Adelaide, Australia.

Nathan Astle led the Kiwis with 95 runs while pace bowler Shane Bond took five wickets for 25 as New Zealand reached 242 for five and then held Australia to 165 all out.

For his efforts, Bond was voted man of the match. New Zealand leads the series, which also includes South Africa, by eight points over Australia (17-9). South Africa is in third place. The next mach is Sunday in Adelaide when South Africa takes on New Zealand.
