Rachel Birtha Eitches has a lifelong commitment to the use of mass media and the arts to bridge racial, ethnic and cultural gaps in the US and abroad. A writer, editor, and research specialist, and the webmaster for this project, she most recently served as director of VOA's Kurdish language service. She has also managed the Hindi service, and radio feeds for the Philippines and Israel. Before joining VOA she was a reporter and editor for the former USIA Near East/South Asia wireless file. She holds a BA in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Her M.A. and Ph.D. in South Asia Studies and Intercultural Communication are from the University of Minnesota.
