President Bush has unveiled a new campaign to encourage the adoption of thousands of American foster children.
Mr. Bush told a White House ceremony there are more than 130,000 children in foster care who are awaiting permanent homes. He said a permanent, stable home is a child's best chance for achieving future success. The president introduced a new federal website, www.adoptuskids.org, that has profiles of 6,400 eligible children.
He also said there will be a series of public service announcements featuring First Lady Laura Bush and actor Bruce Willis - the national spokesman for children in foster care. The announcements will help prospective parents reach agencies that can help speed the adoption process.
