U.S. Soccer has finalized the opponents, dates and venues for the 2002 edition of the Nike U.S. Women's Cup.
One of the most respected international women's tournaments, the four-team, six-game competition will be played in suburban New York City and feature the USA, Australia, Italy and Russia. It will begin September 29.
U.S. coach April Heinrichs said having a quality field will be great preparation for the team's World Cup qualifying effort. The Americans will play Russia in the opener, followed by matches against Australia on October 2 and Italy on October 6.
Regional qualifying for next year's women's World Cup in China begins in late October, at the Gold Cup to be played in the western United States.
