On Friday, rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army ambushed a UNICEF convoy in northern Uganda, killing several people.
The convoy was delivering supplies to refugee camps in the area. The UNICEF representative in Uganda, Martin Mogwanja, told English to Africa reporter Chinedu Offor that the group will continue to get supplies to displaced people and will ask the government to improve security on the route used by the convoy.
The LRA has been fighting the government for the past sixteen years and turned down a recent amnesty offer by the government.
