Spain's Juan Antonio Flecha won the 11th stage of the Tour de France, but four-time defending champion Lance Armstrong of the United States maintains his overall lead heading into Friday's 12th stage.
Thursday's trek took the cyclists 153 kilometers from Narbonne, near the Mediterranean Sea, to Toulouse. It was Flecha's first Tour stage victory.
Armstrong was the 29th rider to complete the 11th stage. Hollywood action movie superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger was at the finish line to congratulate Armstrong on retaining the yellow jersey, which indicates the Tour's overall leader. The 31-year-old Texas native has a 21-second advantage over Alexander Vinokourov of Kazakhstan.
Friday's stage 12 is the first individual time trial of the Tour, a 47 kilometer race from Gaillac to Cap Decouverte.
