A Kenyan terrorist suspect arrested in Malawi in June has been freed and returned to Kenya.
Khalif Abdi Hussein was one of five suspects arrested by Malawian and U.S. officials on suspicion of being associated with the terrorist network al-Qaida.
At the time of his arrest, the 32-year-old Islamic studies teacher, who is a Kenyan citizen, had been teaching in Malawi as a missionary.
Until recently, Mr. Hussein's family and Kenyan authorities did not know where he was being held.
Mr. Hussein said after his release he is considering taking legal action against those involved in his June 24 arrest and detention.
"Is it going to be an international court he's going to take this matter to or is it just locally? These are issues that he still wants to decide," said Nazlin Omar Rajpul, an official of the National Muslim Council, speaking on behalf of the family.
She said Mr. Hussein is traumatized and unwell, and is considering his next move.
