Third-seeded Guillermo Coria of Argentina captured his third straight ATP title Sunday, when he beat David Ferrer of Spain in straight-sets at the Polish Open tennis tournament in Sopot.
The 21-year-old Argentine defeated Ferrer 7-5, 6-1 to become the first man since Austria's Thomas Muster in 1996 to win three straight championships in a year. It was Coria's fourth title this year after victories at the Hamburg Masters, Stuttgart and Kitzbuehel, and his 15th match in a row without conceding a set. He improved his record on clay to 38-5.
On Saturday, third-seeded Anna Pistolesi of Israel maintained her perfect record in WTA Tour finals by beating Klara Koukalova of the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-0. It was her seventh title in as many career finals, and her first this year.
