In Major League Baseball, Boston's Kevin Millar hit a game-ending double off the glove of leaping center fielder Mike Cameron with two outs in the 10th inning to give the Red Sox a 7-6 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Seattle had tied the game with two outs in the ninth inning on a hit by Cameron.
Boston has now won three straight games, while the Mariners dropped their fourth in a row.
In another American League contest Saturday, the Anaheim Angels came back from a 5-0 deficit in the late innings to beat the host Detroit Tigers 14-8 by scoring six runs in the 10th inning. The Tigers are on a pace to set the major league record for losses in a season - 120 - after dropping their 11th straight game.
Other American League winners Saturday were the Orioles, Athletics, White Sox, Royals and Indians.
The Baltimore Orioles downed the Yankees 7-2 in New York. The Oakland Athletics scored six runs in the sixth inning on the way to an 11-5 win over the Blue Jays in Toronto. The Chicago White Sox crushed the visiting Texas Rangers 13-2 for their sixth straight win. The Kansas City Royals edged the host Minnesota Twins 4-3. And the Cleveland Indians scored six times in the seventh inning to beat the host Tampa Bay Devil Rays 7-5.
In the National League, Milwaukee's Royce Clayton hit a game-ending single off the left fielder's glove with two outs in the ninth inning, as the Brewers edged the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-6. Pittsburgh had tied the game with three runs in the top of the ninth.
The San Diego Padres got the only run of their game against the visiting Montreal Expos on a game-ending, bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning.
The other National League winners were the Reds, Giants, Cardinals, Diamondbacks, Braves and Mets.
The Cincinnati Reds got by the Astros 3-1 in Houston. The San Francisco Giants notched their fifth straight win by edging the visiting Florida Marlins 3-2. The St. Louis Cardinals beat the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 5-3. The Arizona Diamondbacks dominated the Chicago Cubs 13-2 in Phoenix. Atlanta Braves' pitcher Mike Hampton won his ninth straight game by defeating his former team - the Colorado Rockies - in a 5-4 outcome in Denver. And the New York Mets shut out the Dodgers 4-0 in Los Angeles.
