Maarten Lafeber, who lives in Amsterdam, has won the Dutch Open Golf championship and become the first home winner in more than 50 years.
Lafeber shot a three under par 67 on Sunday to claim his first European tour title and the $193,000 first prize. His four round score was 13 under par 267.
Denmark's Soren Hansen and Sweden's Mathias Gronberg tied for second place, two shots back.
At the Las Vegas Invitational Golf Tournament on the American PGA tour, meanwhile, Australia's Stuart Appleby has won a playoff with American Scott McCarron by getting a birdie on the first playoff hole. The two had tied after five rounds at 31 under par , 328. American Steeve Lowery finished third three shots back. In winning the tournament, Appleby had rounds of 62, 68, 63, 66, and 69.
In women's golf, Sophie Gustafson, a native of Sweden now living in the United States, has won the Samsung World Women's Golf Championship at the Woodlands, in Texas, firing an eight under par 64 on Sunday to finish at 14 under par for the tournament and defeated Australian Rachel Teske and American Beth Daniel by two shots. Annika Sorenstam of Sweden was three shots back at 11 under, 277. Gustafson takes home the first place prize of $200,000.
It was Gustafson's first win in two years. She began Sunday five shots back.
The Samsung Championship is the most exclusive tournament in Women's Golf, as only the top 20 players in the world are invited.
