Liberians welcome takeover by an interim administration - 2003-10-14

Liberia has installed a new transitional government designed to end nearly 15 years of continuous civil war. Liberia’s Charge d’affaires in Washington Aaron Kollie told English to Africa reporter Josephine Kamara that the transfer of power to an interim administration is an essential first step to the peace and stability of Liberia. But he says the seating of an interim government does not mean peace has been achieved. He says Mr. Bryant’s government will need all Liberians and the international community to sustain the fragile peace that has been achieved.
