NHL: Penguins Edge Devils in Overtime - 2003-11-22


In the National Hockey League, New Jersey's Patrik Elias scored two goals, including the game winner 39 seconds into overtime to lift the host Devils to a 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh.

The Penguins forced overtime Friday when Dick Tarnstrom scored with 27 seconds left in regulation.

New Jersey now has an 11-game unbeaten streak.

Nashville's Scott Hartnell scored 1.5 minutes into overtime to give the Predators a 4-3 win over the Mighty Ducks in Anaheim.

Buffalo goaltender Mika Noronen made 35 saves in his third career shutout, as the Sabres blanked the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 5-0. JP Dumont had two goals and an assist for the Sabres.

The Atlanta Thrashers doubled the host Florida Panthers 6-3 behind two goals by Shawn McEachern, and an NHL - leading 15th goal of the season by Ilya Kovalchuk.

The San Jose Sharks blew out the Coyotes 5-0 in Phoenix.

And, the Dallas Stars used two goals from Brendan Morrow to defeat the visiting Los Angeles Kings 3-1, snapping the Stars' seven-game winless streak.
