Sorenstam Wins Golf's Lady Masters Tourney in Australia - 2004-02-29

World number one women's golfer Annika Sorenstam has won the Ladies Masters tournament for the third time in Gold Coast, Australia.

The Swedish superstar fired a seven-under-par 65 in Sunday's final round, winning by four strokes with an overall score of 269, 19 under par. It was Sorenstam's 58th career victory. She previously won the Australian masters event in 1995 and 2002.

Second round leader Karen Struples of Britain came in second after carding a four-under-par 68 (for a total score of 273). Tied for third were Australia's Kylie Prata and Jennifer Rosales of the Philippines, another four strokes back at 277.

Defending champion Laura Davies of Britain, also a three-time winner of the tournament, finished in eighth place, and Australian star Karrie Webb, a four-time champion of the ANZ Ladies Masters, was 11th.

Webb won the tournament four years in a row, from 1998 through 2001, and finished tied for first in 2002, but Sorenstam prevailed that year in a four-hole playoff.
