New Israeli Gunfire Kills At Least 3 More Palestinians - 2004-10-02

At least three Palestinians died Saturday in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.

Two victims were killed when a missile fired by a helicopter smashed their car. Another was killed in an Israeli attack on the Jabalya refugee camp.

Today's deaths bring to 46 the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza since Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian cabinet declared a state of emergency and called on international backers of the so-called "road map" peace plan to intervene.

Shops in the West Bank and Gaza Strip closed for the day to protest the attacks. And Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia has postponed a trip to Moscow Sunday.

A spokesman for the Hamas militants told Al Arabiya television that without international help, Palestinians must defend themselves through rocket attacks on Israeli targets.
