Bolivian President-elect Evo Morales has arrived in South Africa for a visit with government, political and community leaders.
He is scheduled to meet with leaders of the ruling African National Congress later Tuesday and with President Thabo Mbeki on Wednesday.
Morales was elected last month and will be Bolivia's first indigenous president when he takes office January 22.
He has vowed to take greater government control of Bolivia's abundant natural gas reserves to try to alleviate poverty in the country.
His ten-day trip has included stops in China, France, Belgium, Spain, Cuba and Venezuela.
