Sweden's Thomas Johansson and German Nicolas Kiefer have advanced to the finals of the Saint Petersburg Open indoor tennis tournament in Russia.
Johansson, the second seed, defeated eighth-seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Kiefer, the fifth seed, scored a straight-sets win over Robin Vik of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4.
Kiefer and Johansson have met six times before, with each player winning three times. In their last meeting, at this year's World team Championship in Germany, Johansson won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Kiefer has not won a tournament since 2000.
