South Sudan in Focus co-hosts John Tanza and Charlton Doki were the moderators for the a Town Hall meeting held in Juba on September 7, 2012.
The panelists participating in the discussion were Jok Madut Jok, co-founder of the Sudd Research Institute and an undersecretary in the Culture Ministry; Deng Athuai, Chairperson of the Civil Society Alliance; and the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Toby Lanzer.
Deputy Information Minister Atem Yak Atem accepted an invitation to represent the government at the Town Hall meeting. He later informed VOA he would not be attending but would send a representative from his office. However, nobody from the Information Ministry showed up to participate.
The U.S. ambassador to South Sudan, Susan Page, also delivered brief opening remarks, welcoming the audience to the Town Hall meeting.
