With 79,000 new COVID cases reported daily over the last few days, Brazil is emerging as the world’s worst hit country. Now scientists are warning of a new fast-spreading variant that may be the world most dangerous, even as some carry on largely as normal. Edgar Maciel reports from Sao Paulo.
