A Chinese citizen pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court Monday to charges of trying to illegally send a large amount of a high-tech carbon fiber back to China.
Ming Suan Zhang faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine when he is sentenced in November.
Undercover agents arrested him last year when he tried to acquire the fiber for what he said was a test flight of a Chinese fighter jet.
The United States is continuing its investigation. The U.S. military uses the special fiber in planes, rockets and nuclear engineering projects.
