Rhetoric or Reality? Britain’s Hong Kong Passport Offer Angers China

London and Beijing are engaged in a heated dispute over plans to make it easier for some Hong Kong residents to emigrate to Britain. The British government announced the proposal in response to China’s attempt to impose a new security law on the territory, following violent anti-government protests. Hong Kong is meant to be semi-autonomous from Beijing — but critics say the new law threatens that status. Henry Ridgwell reports from London.
