Israeli Police Kill Palestinian in Raid

Israeli police say one of its officers has killed a Palestinian in a suburb of Tel Aviv.

Authorities say the officer shot the man Saturday in Petah Tikva during a raid aimed at flushing out illegal immigrants.

A police spokeswoman said the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear.

Some Palestinians from the nearby Israeli-occupied West Bank who do not have permits to work in the Jewish state enter illegally looking for work in the more lucrative Israeli job market.

Israeli forces frequently apprehend Palestinians who cross into Israel illegally.
