Bolivian authorities said they have seized a total of five tons of cocaine in what they call the biggest drug bust ever in the poor South American country.

Police say they seized the drug in raids on Friday and Saturday in the southeastern city of Santa Cruz. Twenty-four people were arrested.

Authorities said the drugs were destined for Spain. The Associated Press said three tons of cocaine were discovered in a shipment of instant mashed potatoes.

Bolivia is one of the world's largest producer of cocaine.
