Police in Ghana say about 120 people are missing and feared dead after their overloaded boat sank in Lake Volta. Officials Monday said the boat carrying about 150 passengers sank on Saturday, and that at least 30 people have been rescued.

They say search efforts continue but that passengers not yet found are feared dead. The Associated Press reports the passengers were traveling across the vast, 85-hundred-square-kilometer Lake Volta to relocate their homes after their island was designated a natural reserve. Officials say the boat hit hit something submerged in the water and sank.
