Afghan officials say security forces in the southern city of Kandahar have arrested two men carrying explosives.

The officials say the men, believed to be terrorists, were detained hours after unidentified attackers threw a grenade at the Indian consulate in the city's center Tuesday night. The grenade exploded outside the complex, causing no casualties.

Also Tuesday, unknown attackers hurled a grenade at the Ministry of Women's Affairs in the capital, Kabul, but it too blew up outside the compound and there were no injuries.

A police spokesman says no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
