Home-country player Robert Allenby has become the first player to win Australian golf's "Triple Crown," with a sudden death playoff victory over American Bubba Watson at Australian Masters in Melbourne.

After finishing regulation play tied with 17-under-par totals of 271 Sunday, Allenby parred the first playoff hole, while Watson's one-meter putt for the tying par lipped out. Watson finished the day with a five-under-par round of 67, while Allenby ended play Sunday with a four-under 68.

Allenby has now won the Australian Open, PGA and Masters in consecutive weeks and improved his playoff record to 9-0.

Australian Nick O'Hern, who led after the first three rounds, was trying to win his first tournament since 1999. But the left-hander faded on the back nine Sunday, ending the day with 73 to miss the playoff by two shots in third place.
