A student who bought a used sofa bed at a Berlin flea market has sold at auction a valuable painting she found hidden inside after she unfolded the couch at home.

The auction house Ketterer Kunst in Hamburg announced this week that the oil painting was sold for about $28,000.  The student's identity has not been released.

Auctioneers said the piece was painted between 1605 and 1610 by an unknown artist with ties to Venetian painter Carlo Saraceni.
